The role
Seafoam is a St. Louis marketing agency that runs marketing like an operating system. Every client starts with a diagnosis of how their customers find them, choose them and stay, then a roadmap. We build what the roadmap calls for, and then we run it: monthly reviews, quarterly strategy, and an annual reset of the plan and the budget.
This role owns the running part. Every client in our Run phase is yours, from longtime management clients to each new client whose build wraps up. You’re the senior marketing leader they talk to every month, and the person who makes sure what the roadmap promised shows up in leads, calls and revenue. You’re not an account manager relaying requests. You’re the client’s fractional CMO.
It isn’t project management (our systems handle task dates and status) and it isn’t sales (our sales lead handles new business). It’s the job of making a client’s marketing work, and proving it.
What you'll do
- Lead the client relationship. Run the monthly and quarterly meetings, set the agenda, and deliver hard news early. Clients should never need to go around you.
- Set channel strategy. Own the plan for search, paid social and programmatic for each client.
- Run the decision loop. On a set cadence, analyze each client’s data, report it in plain numbers, and decide what to start, stop, continue or push harder on. Bring the call to the client with a recommendation already made, without waiting to be asked. The roadmap you inherit is where you start, not the whole job.
- Fix the customer experience. Know each client’s customer journey, from the first search to the renewal, and fix the places where customers stall, drop off or get frustrated.
- Manage our digital marketing strategist. Their workload, their development and the quality of their work. Direct and develop; don’t jump in and do it yourself.
- Own results. Leads, cost per lead, conversion and revenue. Not impressions.
- Protect scope and margin. Keep the work inside what the client bought, catch scope creep early, and flag new needs to our sales lead.
What you bring
- A strong grasp of overall marketing strategy. You see how brand, website, search, paid, content, email, customer experience and sales fit together. You start from the business goal and work back to the channel, not the other way around.
- You’re gung-ho about AI. You’re already using it in your own work to make marketing better, and you can tell when it’s improving the work and when it’s just making more of it.
- 7+ years in marketing, with at least 3 leading client relationships at an agency or running marketing in-house at a growing company.
- You’ve managed and developed at least one marketer, and you hold people to deadlines and quality without doing the work for them.
- Hands-on programmatic experience: you’ve planned, launched and optimized campaigns (DSP, audience targeting, inventory and brand-safety choices, measurement) on real budgets, and you can explain the results to a CEO.
- Strong paid search and paid social. Enough working knowledge of SEO, content, email and analytics (GA4, Tag Manager, call tracking) to direct the people doing it.
- You write clearly and you say the uncomfortable thing early.
