Seafoam’s Team of 10 Participates in Seafoam Day Q2 2017

Once every three months, Seafoam's boldest and brightest gather to partake in an event that has been near and dear to our agency since we opened our doors in June of 2010. Dubbed Seafoam Day, these recurring functions represent a time for our team to slow down and enjoy the bountiful fruit of their relentless labor – a time to…dare we utter the word…relax, even if only for a moment.

”Seafoam Day is a ‘stop and smell the roses’ moment for our company. It's easy to forget how lucky we are to work in marketing for great clients and with amazing team members. Every few months, I want everyone to take a break and get to know each other on a more personal level.” — Nikki Bisel, Owner and Founder of Seafoam Media

This week’s Seafoam Day is a special occasion, however. Unlike the other three quarters of the year where our team is only able to take a brief hiatus from their busy schedules, Q2 is reserved for a day-long celebration of our agency's past accomplishments, current goals and bright future.
So, without further ado, here are some of the things our team discussed and the experiences we shared at Seafoam Day Q2 2017.

Morning Discussion: Our Core Values

Like a compass that guides a ship across the Bering Sea, Seafoam's core values ensure our teams’ hearts always align with our company’s goals.
Every decision we make is influenced by five key values. While these values are strictly for teammates' eyes (sorry), we can say that these attributes test our ability to satisfy our clients, build uniquely custom marketing strategies, insert humor into the daily grind when applicable (which is almost always), be versatile in a way that empowers us to execute a variety of strategies for various types of clients, and to always persevere, regardless of the breadth of the obstacles we face.

Afternoon Discussion: Getting Down with the DISC-o

For those unfamiliar, the DISC Assessment is designed to measure each teammates’ personality traits, work ethic and other identifying qualities by gauging how each individual exhibits four specific traits:

  • Dominance: Describes the way one deals with problems, asserts him-/herself and controls situations.
  • Influence: Describes the way one deals with people, including communication skills and the way he/she relates to others.
  • Steadiness: Describes one’s temperament – patience, persistence, thoughtfulness, etc.
  • Compliance: Describes how one approaches and organizes his/her activities, procedures and responsibilities.

Since these qualities are uniquely innate to each individual person, there is no right or wrong combination of traits that make up an “ideal person.” That said, when building a team that works as closely together as ours, it is ideal to have a reasonable balance of these traits amongst individuals. Once this is achieved, it’s fun to see how each teammate’s core qualities complement one another.

Evening Event: Painting and Partaking at Pinot’s Palette

After discussing our team’s DISC results over plates filled with food from Boogaloo’s, St. Louis’ Cubano, Creole and Caribe hotspot, the team wrapped up Seafoam Day with an adventure across town to Pinot's Palette in Webster Groves. If you’ve never been, this unique experience combines two of the best things in the world – wine and art – to help patrons unleash their unabashed creativity. Here are some art pieces our team managed to create in the two hours we spent at the studio...

Thank You!
