Who am I?
I am Madi LaChance, and I am a Seafoam Marketing Challenge Intern at Seafoam Media. I took an interest in marketing to broaden my skills. I like to work hard; it’s fun to have the chance to build on a big project and to put my energy into something.
What do you hope you can help NAMI STL achieve by working with us?
I joined Seafoam to help launch a marketing strategy for NAMI St. Louis, the non-profit for the Spring 2018 semester of the Seafoam Marketing Challenge. I hope that I can help NAMI STL’s brand grow and reach a lot more people. I feel like a lot of people – especially young people – who do live with mental illness don’t know about NAMI STL and what they have to offer. I really want to get their brand out in the open so that they are known and so people can get help.
What drives you?
Honestly, I’ve always been a driven person. I get that from my Mom; she’s always pushed me to work hard. It’s how I’ve always been. My Mom’s also a harder worker. She’s a single Mom, she went to college, and she worked full time when she had me, so it’s just who I am.
What things have you learned throughout school that prepared you for this program?
A good work ethic is important. I’m also excited to have the chance to work with NAMI STL’s social media; I’m a big social media user, so that’s really going to be fun for me. Learning presentation skills have also helped me a lot, especially with Mrs. Withers’ class. Doing this whole project has really put me more into marketing than I’ve ever been before.
What makes you excited to join Seafoam?
I’m just excited to see how marketing works! I don’t know much about agencies or building strategies, and I really can’t wait to get started. I’m excited to play a part in something good that can make a difference in people’s lives.
In my freetime…
I like sports. I play volleyball. I’m a cheerleader. I like to hang out with my family and friends. That’s pretty much what I do in my free time.
