Seafoam Profile: Skip Brooks

In The Team

Meet Skip Brooks, the latest addition to our team. As our lead Copywriter, Skip puts together all of the copywriting for Seafoam Media and our clients. If you have any questions on creative content marketing and copywriting that has both the wow factor and the practical results, Skip Brooks is the guy to talk to. Here’s a little bit about Skip:

If you could have any super power what would it be?

My initial answer would be stopping time but then I always remember that one Twilight Zone episode where the guy breaks his time stopper machine and can’t get everyone to move again. So I’ll go with the safe answer: flying (but definitely no cape).

What are you most passionate about professionally?

Professionally, I am most passionate about having the opportunity to live a creative life. What started out as a hobby, emerged into a full blown career and I am forever grateful for the chance to do something I love.

The thing that excites me the most about Seafoam is working with different clients and gaining a better understanding of their industry. I get to dive head first into their business with the intention of accurately capturing their voice on their webpage.

What apps, software or tools can’t you live without?

Twitter and Tumblr are the apps that I use the most but the Nike Running App is my favorite. I tried other running apps but Nike’s is superior. I logged in over 100 miles in July but honestly haven’t did much since. I try to blame it on the weather but my wife constantly reminds me of the countless miles I logged in during many brutal Boston winters so I really have no excuse. Recently, I moved the app front and center on my iPhone so it’s the first thing I see when I turn it on. We’ll see if it makes a difference.

What do you like to do on your free time?

Once you have children, the concept of “free time” goes out the window but last month it was the Rubik’s Cube and now it’s the guitar. I can solve the Cube in under 2 minutes but I don’t have the time to tackle the more advanced algorithms to be able to do it in under 1 minute. I’m currently learning how to play the guitar but who knows what I’ll be into by the time you read this.

What do you like most about working remotely?

The best part about working remotely is being close to my family and having the freedom to work at my own pace. I hardly saw my family during the week because of long commutes in the past so working remotely is a breath of fresh air to my loved ones. Also, I tend to do my best work on the go so I love the fact that I can take my work anywhere.

What does your workspace look like?

I usually work at my desk which is filled with a few of my favorite things but some of my best ideas come when I’m on the go so my iPhone has become a mobile workspace.
