We are ecstatic to introduce our latest addition to the Seafoam Team: Marketing Assistant, Marla Smith. As a former Print Advertising Exec for Cosmopolitan, and with eight years in National Print Advertising, Marla brings a ton of knowledge and experience to the team. The Chicago native moved to St. Louis 4 years ago where she lives with her two daughters. In her spare time, Marla is a writer on several children’s lifestyle blogs including Foxes and Flamingos.
Get to know a little about Marla:
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
If I could pick any superpower, it would be teleportation, hands down. Having the ability to zap between locations with just thinking about it would save so much driving time during the day! And weekends? My daydreams are of European vacations and exploring different countries. How cool would it be to get some fish & chips on a Saturday night?
What are you most passionate about professionally? What most excites you about your work and the contribution you can make?
I am most passionate about client management. I love working with clients on their advertising and marketing objectives and creating something uniquely tailored for them. I believe knowledge is power, and I find that just by simply listening to client’s goals and asking questions it will help shape a successful advertising/marketing program.
What apps, software or tools can’t you live without, and why?
Instagram & VSCO. My girls are my life and my photography muses. I am an amateur, but I love and enjoy photography. I use Instagram almost daily to post photos of my girls and posts from my children’s lifestyle blog, Foxes & Flamingos. I rely heavily on the user-friendly VSCO app for filtering my photos to give them just the right look.
What do you like most about working remotely?
Working remote allows me to have a flexible schedule where I can still drop my girls and pick them up at school. I can fill my day with productivity. Since there are 24 hours in a day working for Seafoam Media allows the opportunity to fill that time being a great employee while also balancing my responsibilities as a mother.
What does your workspace look like?
I work at the little kitchen table nook in my home. The kitchen is my favorite place in the whole house as I had the most pleasure in designing it. It’s very light, bright and clean. Stark white walls, cabinets, and table, are the perfect backdrop for my colorful photographs of Companion Pretzel Bread and Soulard Farmer Market that I took as well as the St. Louis Donut Drive-in Art Print I got from Etsy. The kitchen is the life blood of our house and where I feel the most relaxed. When my girls are home, they always know where to find me.
