Do You Have Real Partners?

In Business, Checking In, Our Clients

When you hire a company to perform some tasks or set of tasks for you, what do you call them? How do they mesh with your company’s DNA?

When you bring in a marketing agency or an IT company, how do they communicate with you? How do they treat you?

I’ve seen two types of hires during my career — simple outsourcing and true partnerships.

Strive for true partnerships. Always hire companies that treat you like you’re their only client.

  • Don’t hire a company that doesn’t want to talk with you.
  • Don’t hire a company that won’t work late getting the job done for you.
  • Don’t hire a company that won’t work weekends if you have an emergency.
  • Don’t hire a company that bends the truth.
  • Don’t hire a company that forces you into their workflow.
  • Don’t hire a company that puts you on the backburner.
  • Don’t hire a company that runs your every communication through 9 different lines of bureaucracy and contracts every time you need something new or different done.
  • Don’t hire a company that is rigid.
  • Don’t hire a company that forgets where they started.
  • Don’t hire a company that doesn’t know where you started.
  • Don’t hire a company that doesn’t care about your company.
  • Don’t hire a company that is not a true partner.
